Visiting Varnish Lane

Posted in Color Me Badd, DC Life by

I treat myself to a mani/pedi about twice a year.  Wait, let me clarify.  Usually, I do my nails at home, but it’s nice to get them professionally done every once in a while.  Since it was a birthday gift to myself, I decided to book an appointment at Varnish Lane.

Settled in an adorable yellow building literally right over the MD/DC border, Varnish Lane offers waterless manicures and pedicures, and other spa treatments. (such as waxing).  VL only uses toxic-free polishes, essential oils, and other specialty products during appointments.  Here is their page about why they do waterless.

After hearing great things when they opened, I visited for the first time in 2015. I enjoyed it but I never got a chance to return until a few weeks ago.

That’s My Song: Knocks Me Off My Feet (Stevie Wonder)

Posted in That's My Song by

It’s Stevie Wonder’s birthday today!  He is my favorite singer and songwriter.  The songs he has crafted are timeless.  As with all classic and renowned artists, I think everyone has a favorite song of Stevie’s. Whether it’s one from when he was a teenager, to Songs in the Key of Life-era, to newer selections, or covers from other bands and singers.  Stevie has made an impact in music and even in the industry (taking ownership of his material away from the record companies). He’s a legend!

It’s so hard for me to pick faves. But this one right here…I will always get in my feelings when I hear it:

Celebrate with a Stevie song today! 🙂  Have a great weekend.

Hello, 30.

Posted in My Life by

Here we are!

Or rather, here I am.

It’s my birthday.

I’m 30 years old.

I don’t think I feel different. I didn’t think I would.

But there’s so much potential.

So, on this momentous occasion, this new website has premiered. This is what I’ve been working on for about two months from my previous venture, thirty daydreams.  Slowly, but surely.

Back story: My middle name is Joy and as I spent weeks on finding a name that could work, the phrase “Joyfully Inclined” came to me.  And it makes sense. I tend to have a joyful attitude (most of the time) or how about this – that’s the goal!

Yes, I had all of those things on my to-do list back in the fall…But life and such got in the way.  I hope to cross off those items this year.  Still a work in progress, but aren’t we all? 🙂

Here’s to new adventures and stories, meetings, and life lessons.
