No shocker to anyone…I enjoy going out to eat with friends. I think the combination of food and friends is the best. But sometimes, I’m okay with taking a trip somewhere by my lonesome. But the main factor stays the same – delicious food that does not break my wallet!
I had some free time to visit two places for lunch last week. Let me tell ya what happened! 🙂
Wednesday – My friend and I celebrated another year of teaching dance by having a late lunch. So we visited Pike & Rose, a newer shopping center/community in Montgomery County. (It’s a really nice area with a fancy movie theatre, shops, and restaurants). We were in the mood for sandwiches and burgers, so Del Frisco’s Grille seemed like a good idea. Opted to sit outside – wonderful choice. The weather was so nice, and a cute breeze. At the bar, there were patrons who must have come from work and having a happy hour. It was lovely. My kind of environment – Ha! For my meal and a sprite, it was about $15. (Of course, you BETTER add tip! 20% or more, depending on the service you received.)
I ordered the burger with fries. So yummy and look at the adorable kitchen bottle!
Thursday – After my physical therapy appointment, I wanted to get something quick but not fast food (trying really hard to avoid those drive thrus!). So, I stopped by &pizza. A fairly new restaurant that’s based in DC. It’s one of those create-your-meal places. There are signature items on the menu. You can pick the kind of dough you want (all organic – regular, whole wheat, or gluten-free). A plethora of toppings to choose. You can even double up on the sauces or cheeses, etc. To your heart’s desire. Also, they make their own sodas and teas. Not too shabby!
I created my own – two sauces, mozzarella, pepperoni, and an oregano oil. The crust does get a little charred, but if you’re into that, you’re good. I only got the pizza, so it was about $9.75. I think it’s worth the price. Tasty and very filling. It hit the spot! If you’re looking for an off-the-beaten path spot for pizza in the DC area, definitely check it out!
Isn’t it a cute box?
A girl was hungry! I broke off a little piece before taking this in the car. Whoops!
Trust me, there will be more foodie posts. Now, off to make some treats for my students – that will be another post to share.
Maybe this will give you some ideas for your next outing for lunch. What restaurants have you visited recently? If you live in my area, any recommendations? I love visiting new spots!
