Today, as we celebrate and remember Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s life, work, and legacy, I wanted to feature a quote that some may not see as we peruse our facebooks, twitters, and instagrams.
“The time is always right to do what is right.”
Simple and profound! Let’s think about what this means…
I know we have seen the wonderful sayings from Dr. King during this time of year, and we’re quick to slap a quote on our social media. But are we just as enthusiastic to take heed and follow through with what he said after the holiday is over? Is it part of our mission?
How can we apply this quote to our lives? It doesn’t take much but we can incorporate Dr. King’s mission of love, justice, and peace among all people, into what we do and who we see.
Here’s a Scripture to encourage you:
To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. – Micah 6:8
Let’s walk the walk, my friends. It won’t be easy because that’s life and we’re humans. But it can be done. Not just today, but every day!
I know since I live near Washington, DC, there are events today called “Day of Service”. Groups are coming together to help others and make a difference.
How are you serving your community? What is something you can do in the groups you participate in this year? Work? Church? School?
Find ways to serve. It’s always the right time. You don’t have to wait until MLK Day.
I hope that you have a great week!
