There is nothing permanent except change. – Heraclitus
I knew this year would be different. I wanted it to be since 30 is a milestone. Best year yet! Onward and upward, right?
Wrong.
It’s been different, alright. (Note the sarcasm.) There have been changes, but it has not been easy. Not pleasant at all. Yes, there have been great days. But disappointments and frustrations have occurred. Having to make tough calls. Switching up my game plan. Having second thoughts about my dreams.
I know during the fall, the mind tends to focus on its surroundings. Always finding signs in Nature’s seasons to correlate with truths in our lives. So it got me ponderin’.
During my quiet time, I’ve been asking and waiting for answers. Am I in the right place? Where do I go next? What’s the next step? I’m all about having a plan. But I know in the end, it can’t be just my plan. It has to be what He wants.
We always have to be in a position to adjust. If we let our stubborn tendencies get in the way, we won’t grow and reach our true potential. Think about the leaves – if they don’t turn colors and fall down, the whole process of a tree’s life does not occur. So…
Change is vital!
I know I’m not where I want to be. That’s discouraging. But after making (and still making) adjustments, I’m heading in the right direction. There’s a positive outlook that needs to stick with us during these times.
With that in mind, I’ve been 30 for six months now. Here is what I’ve been learning:
- I’m stronger than I thought.
- Letting go is okay.
- My attitude affects EVERYTHING I do.
- I have to take initiative if I want something.
- Comparing my situations with others’ will never be beneficial.
- Finding positives will always make the day better.
If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude. – Maya Angelou
This Scripture reminds me that no matter what happens, I’m not alone:
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go. – Joshua 1:9
So yeah. That’s about it. 🙂
How about you? What have you been learning about yourself since January? I’d love to know.
‘Til next time,
xo
