    Where Have You Been?

    I know, I know.

    Been slacking big time.

Prepping for summer work, tidying up current projects.

But I’m here, finding inspiration in the little things.  Keeping track what makes me happy.

Here’s what I did since I posted last:

Saw Beyoncé. I got ALL of my life again.  You don’t have to be a diehard fan to enjoy the show. So much energy, which gets all of my attention. As a performer, that’s the ultimate kind of high. After I saw her, the dancers, and the band do their thing, it makes me want to perform and do better as an artist. But who am I kidding?  My passion isn’t there to be back on stage! 🙂

Watching the Tony Awards  – the Mecca of Musical Theatre… seeing my fave Hamilton win and other musicals do fabulously, allowing everyone to watch how brilliant they are. I screamed, squealed, and “Yahhhss”-ed throughout the evening. I hope you saw Lin-Manuel’s powerful acceptance speech. I highly recommend you catch some YouTube videos so you can relive the magic. (I will be writing about Hamilton this be ready!)

Visited three different HomeGoods in the area. When I tell you I saw so many fun and beautiful items that I wanted to take with me… There will be a massive photo post next week! All of the colors and props gave me ideas for something new.  It reminded me how much I enjoy home and event decor.

Summer officially starts next week; working in the mornings and having some free time in the afternoons. So that will be nice. My cooking project will start, so stay tuned for that!

    Have a great weekend!

    My Life

    Hey, June.

    New Month Graphic

Can you believe it’s June? Time is flying by.  But this is great… starting fresh.  Taking a breath. Starting over. That’s encouraging for me.   I like knowing I can begin again.

Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this: The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is His faithfulness; His mercies begin afresh each morning. – Lamentations 3:21-23

How about you?  What are you looking forward to this month? School year ending? Down time or vacation? New project or job?  Being with people you love? Spending time on you?

Well, whatever you’re up to, let’s make June count.  Let’s do this!

    My Life, Questions and Answers

Questions with Mel – Part One

Hey there!  How was your weekend?

Thanks for those who sent questions last week.  Here we go…

How do you manage to stay positive even in stressing times?

I’ll do a combination of these things:  Pray, listen to music, sleep, take a drive.  Remind myself that I’ve gotten through stressful times before, and that I’ll be taken care of.

    What’s your makeup item must-have?

Lip gloss. Preferably, of the nude shade. 🙂

Where do you get your inspiration for desserts like the cake pops?

Pinterest, being at parties.  Seeing recipes on other bloggers’ websites. Thinking about what to make for my kids and friends.

Are you still Team Peeta? If so, why did you choose him?

Of course, I am still Team Peeta!  Always have.  While I was reading the book, the way Katniss described him and interacted with him, just drew me in. He was the kind of person I wanted to know. I found his characteristics – good and bad – endearing.

Well, this was fun.  I’ll have another Q&A before summer is out.

What are you up to this week? Anything fun? Getting stuff done? Let me know. 🙂

    Have a great day!

    My Life

In the dance world, a big leap is called a grand jeté.  It can take days, weeks, or even months of practice to get this move to where you want it. Legs have to be as straight as possible.  Toes pointed. Upper body lifted. Land (or as we call it, plié) correctly.  Sounds like a lot of things to remember!   But once all of those “ingredients” are in place, it’s perfect.  Once you run and let go, it’s a freeing and excellent moment.  Even for a split second. You’re in the air!

Now, let’s think about our life situations and the goals we’re aiming for. What is holding us back? The fear of the unknown. Negativity. The timing doesn’t appear to be just right. Well, let me tell you, if we hold on to these “What if’s”, we won’t get anywhere.

    Leap of Faith

Don’t be afraid. It’s okay to try and not quite make it just yet. But don’t stop there.  Keep moving forward. Stay focused on the end results and where you want to be. Trust the process, even when it seems too tough.  Your faith and confidence will rise. Just when you think there’s nothing left in you, you’ve made that leap to success.

Keep it up. Because what’s better than flying? 😉

    Flowers Really Do Intoxicate Me

There’s something about having flowers in your possession.  Providing color and happiness to the day.  It’s amazing how many kinds of flowers there are.  The variations of hues, designs, and scents.  It’s the best.

Do you have a favorite?  Does your go-to bloom remind you of a special memory or someone?

Roses are my fave. I took a picture of the bouquet I received after our musical ended two weekends ago. First of all, what a sweet gesture from one of my 6th graders. They were so beautiful and had a wonderful scent.

If you’ve never been thrilled to the very edges of your soul by a flower in spring bloom, maybe your soul has never been in bloom. – Terri Guillemets

Maybe my adoration of flowers is connected to springtime.  Everything is coming back to life after the long winter. Thankfully, we can look forward to seeing flowers throughout the year. Nothing like Nature’s bursts of colors in our lives.
