I love taking pictures.
Capturing moments, settings, awesome views, facial expressions. It’s so cool to me. It reminds me of choreography and theatre staging. Having a theme or concept in mind, and working on achieving the right shot at the right time. I love it. So, I’ve been dabbling for a few years, but at the end of last year, I made the decision to step it up with my photography. After I took my friend Ica’s workshop in January, it was on!
Y’all know my theme for the year was “Challenge yourself”. Learning more, doing more. Bringing my camera along with me and experimenting with lenses. Stepping out and sharing my photos on social media. Actually telling people that I take pictures. I haven’t always been good at promoting my work or informing, but I’m growing into that confidence. And I have some awesome friends who have been so encouraging all year. So, if you’re reading – thank you!
Because of my commitment and awesome favor, it has led to some cool opportunities, which included my first paid gig.
Greetings and Happy November! I have a question for you. Outside of English/your primary language, do you know a different language? I’m pretty sure it’s an obligation to take a foreign language in school, but do you use any of it now? In high school, I took American Sign Language. It was different than the regular options of Spanish and French, but it was one of the best decisions I’ve made.
I know the calendar year begins in January, but like most teachers, my work year starts in the fall. Not that it wasn’t important before, but with new jobs and other changes going on, I have to constantly manage my time and stay organized.
As part of my “Challenge yourself” routine, I had to kick it up a notch in regards to my teaching and choreography. If I’m on my A-game on all fronts, I know my students will follow. That’s always my goal. So that means I need to keep everything I write in one place so I don’t lose anything.
The buying part was easy. (Y’all know how I go ga-ga over notebooks and stationery. ) With my blue binder, I assembled my perfect kind of notebook – cute folder dividers, paper with lots of space to write, the works. But something was missing. I didn’t have a cover; my mother suggested I’d make one. To make it my own. So, I used Canva to create a poster.
How was your month? Do anything fun? Helped anyone out? Learned something new about yourself. Let me know – I’d love to hear from you. 🙂
Challenge for you: Have you written out your goals and intentions for September? I’m working on mine this weekend.
Last month, I was thinking and praying about I wanted to work on for the next 4 weeks – personal, work, helping others, projects, etc. During my quiet time, after writing it all down, I jotted a sentence down:
Happy Thursday, everyone. How have you been?
My family and I visited Bethany Beach, DE, a few weeks ago, to celebrate my Grandpa’s 80th birthday. It was a short trip, but it was still lots of fun. I brought the trusty camera to document the day.
