Happy Monday! New month, new week, new you! 🙂
It’s been a while since I’ve mentioned any makeup on the blog. But I’ve been scooping up items since my last beauty buys post, sharing bits and pieces over on Snapchat, but it’s time to make an official recap.
So, here are the four affordable products I’m truly digging at the moment:
It’s been a while since I’ve talked about makeup. Let’s get into it!
Last month, I walked into Sephora en route to a lunch with friends. I had some money left on my birthday gift card from my parents, so I was on the search to find a new item. Passed by the Tarte display. I’ve heard good things about Tarte through Instagram and some of the beauty bloggers I watch. So I checked it out.
It took me a while to decide the perfect color. Maybe thirty minutes? LOL. Embarrassing, but I wanted to get the right one! The shade I bought is called Snap from the Tarteist Glossy Lip Paint collection. I LOVE IT. It glides on so smoothly. It stays on very well too, which is great. Because who has time to reapply every thirty minutes?
It’s a good natural for my skin tone. Not too pink/light (that can turn into an ashy mess), and not too dark. Just the right shade that I like. It’s a darker mauve-y nude, and I love it. Also, it’s vegan-friendly, so for those looking, here is a good option.
Right now I’m pairing my gloss with the lip liner from L’Oreal (Toffee To Be) that I’ve used for my nude lipsticks and glosses. Works very well for me!
The retail price is $20. I’ve never purchased any lip colors more than $15 before so this is a step in the right direction. Movin’ on up!
Oh! Speaking of beauty bloggers, my sweet friend Ashley is back in the game! Check out her Instagram: @pashionistagrams. She works in the industry, so you know you can count on her for good tips and recommendations. 🙂
Happy Thursday, y’all. Back at it again with the makeup! Here is what I’ve picked up in the last six weeks:
Black Radiance Soft Focus Finishing Powder in “Milk Chocolate”
Black Radiance True Complexion BB Cream in “Honey Amber”
Cetaphil Cleanser (travel size)
ColourPop Super Shock Cheek in “Butterfly Beach”
ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip in “More Better”
Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder (sample)
Maybelline “The Nudes” Palette – Blushed and Rock
Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte in “Daringly Nude”
Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel
Smashbox Photo Finish Primer (sample version)
Urban Decay Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray
Items not shown: Real Techniques Expert Face Brush, Revlon Dramatic Definition Mascara,
My favorites at this time: The Blushed palette, the Expert Face Brush, Finishing Powder, the Super Shock Cheek, and Hydro Boost. Gradually, I will start working the other items into my routine and figure out if they work for me.
I highly recommend finding sample versions of products you’re getting the first time. By doing this, you can test it out and save money. (Don’t we all love doing that?) Then, you can see if it’s time to commit to the full size. Sephora and Ulta are great resources to find a plethora of items, and they have good reward systems, that you can use those points for future buys. That’s always fun. Also, do your research to find the best buy for each product. Drugstore.com is pretty neat too.
Have you made any purchases recently? Let me know – I’d love to find out what you’re liking these days.
This post was written a long time ago, but I’m finally posting it!
As I mentioned in a post last month, I’m finally getting into this makeup vibe. I’ve gotten into a routine of what I do. When I’m in a rush (Sunday mornings especially), I can get my face together in 15 minutes. But I’m working on starting earlier, so I can get everything just right. Sometimes that doesn’t always work out. Right before I worked at a company’s promo event last weekend, I was able to promptly complete a made over face in 5.
Still working on adding more pizzaz. (More colors, contour, special techniques, etc.) But this will do for now.
Below is what I use on a regular basis.
That’s exactly what I did.
I am becoming more interested with doing my makeup. I usually keep it simple – nude lip, neutral eyeshadow with some golds. But I’m challenging myself to do more. Getting inspiration from YouTube videos, I’m taking the plunge.
One of those challenges – colorful lips!
Here you can see below, I have a bunch of red items.
I don’t usually wear red anything on my face. But I’ve collected a few items over time (samples I’ve received from Sephora, random purchases); I was determined to try and see what works for me.
The items I tried on were Sephora cream lip stain, Nars satin lip pencil, NYX Matte lipstick.
Needless to say, I didn’t seem as comfortable with the ruby shades on my face. But I kept going. I heard everyone can wear a bold red lip, I just need to figure out which one. Not feeling the matte, but one day I’ll get used to it. I’ll have to purchase Ruby Woo in the near future.
Still working out the concealer deal. It’s okay. When I had a consultation over a year ago, I was recommended to get this. It’s been fine. But covering more canvas helps – using it from under my eye to the top of my cheek, plus the V of my forehead that leads to the bridge of my nose. Then, I sealed everything with the HD Micro Finish powder (also from Make Up For Ever). Update – I tried this technique on Sunday morning for church and it worked very well! Always looking for ways to step up my makeup game.
The pink sponge? The beautiful original Beauty Blender. Purchased it a few weeks ago and I love it.
Verdict? Not too bad. Practice makes perfect.
