Happy Tuesday!
Next week officially begins our fall in the Northern Hemisphere, and like most of you, I am pumped! One of the main reasons why I’m excited is my wardrobe switch. You know what I’m talking about… riding boots, heavier scarfs, sweaters in darker hues…so ready.
I went to the mall over the weekend and saw a few racks of capes, ponchos, and oversized/blanket scarves. Y’all, my heart almost burst. I do not like wearing coats; I wait until the last minute to pull out the heavy duty jackets. But I love having a cape/poncho in my reach. Paired with my riding boots or heels, and my sassy sunglasses, I’m set! Perfect fall uniform.
There’s just something about wearing a cape or poncho – it elevates your outfit 10 notches. It keeps you warm (a great substitution for a coat) and adds a classy touch to your wardrobe. Some wrap around, others drape, with or without pockets. It’s a great addition to any outfit (dressed up or casual). I adore the different styles and colors offered.
A classic that won’t be leaving any time soon, it’s comforting to know that you can find variations of this fall staple. You can find a good cape that fit your personal style at your favorite stores and boutiques. Depending on the fabric, the price ranges from $20-2500 or higher. (Yowza!) For those are creative and patient, I bet you could even make a signature piece! I purchased a grey/plaid cape at a flea market in Pennsylvania last year for only $25. But per usual, I’m ready to find more.
Here are some pieces I saw online and thought were nice. Most are wool or cashmere.
Found some more: Aran-Stitched Cowlneck Poncho / Alfani Prima Milano Sweater Cape / Melissa Plaid Wrap with Pockets
Are you a cape/poncho fan? Where do you purchase yours?
I hope the rest of your week goes well. If you haven’t already, like my FB page. Another fun way I like to interact with everyone. See you there!
