Work takes a lot out of me. As the weeks have gone by, more has happened, and I don’t get the luxury to just take time off. Minus the Nashville trip, it’s been non-stop since September.
I never want to burn out; unfortunately, I let all of my commitments get the best of me. Especially as we approach Christmas… So, I have to think of practical ways to ease it on down.
Here’s what I’ve been doing to disconnect from the stress and busy times (Also a reminder for myself):

Pray/meditate.
Where else am I going to find that inner strength and peace?
Listen to music.
Songs can really do a work in you to help you calm down, or encourage you. I strongly recommend it.
Take a random drive.
Sometimes you need to just get in the car and just go somewhere for a little while, to clear your head.
Don’t read work emails after 10PM.
My jobs aren’t the typical 9-to-5, where you can get everything done at the office, then leave it behind. Unless something is truly pressing, I do my best not check again until the next morning. It’s tempting, but I’ve been doing alright. My goal is to up the time to 8PM, but it’s not always that easy.
Bake.
I love making desserts and preparing. Tedious but it’s a great avenue to just have me-time. Not quite mindless, but I can just do my thing without getting bothered. 😉
Take a nap.
I’m usually good with 6-7 hours a night, but there are days where that is not enough. So, whenever I get some time between lessons and appointments, I’ll catch a few Z’s. Amazing!
That’s all I could think of. How do you disconnect from life’s craziness?
